Does anyone know anything about instruments being stolen from the band room at the Morrisville High School? Yesterday, our son came home from band & told us that both his Alto Sax and Tenor Sax (in their cases) had been stolen along with several other instruments totally thousands of dollars. Such a shame for the kids. I figured I would call the pawn shop on W. Trenton Ave today, just in case. Anyone hear anything? - Janet
So wait is this in addition to was taken last week? I know a sax, a trombone and a guitar were taken last week. Did someone go back in and take more this week?
I don't think so Donna, I think its the same theft. David jr had after school clubs at the tech school last week and Monday was a day off from school so yesterday was the first day that he attended band since the theft.
As far as David knows, the instuments taken were his alto sax, his tenor sax, two other ones belonging to the school, a trombone belonging to the school and at least two guitars. I know for sure that one of the guitars belonged to a student. Its a real shame for the band. Dave & I can replace David's instuments if we have to, but I feel really bad for the kids who might now be without theirs knowing it may have been so hard for them to obtain them in the first place. Its just all very unfortunate for everyone that this happened. Thanks everyone. - Janet
If the stolen instruments are not recovered perhaps we can organize a fundraiser to replace them? Maybe do it through PABS?
(Being a musician myself, I realize you cannot replace an instrument you are really attached to (ask BB King how he feels about Lucille) but a replacement would be better than nothing.)
I'm willing to chip in too. Did this (the instrument thefts) come up at the agenda meeting? I skimmed through the video and didn't see it, but I didn't watch every minute.
Q: Why did John deWilde get all testy when the topic of solicitor was being discussed?
A: Because it's a test. He needs to deliver a reliable Republican solicitor to appease his Bucks County Republican controllers. He's gotta keep the seat warm for Fitz for January 2013.
Hmmmmmmmm you may be right. Its clear several Board/Admin members don't want to replace the solicitor. The foot dragging on putting out an RFP to open things up to competition is evident. Think how much quicker the RFP process would be going if it was something deWilde etc. wanted to do?

Janet, Peter mentioned it on the Potluck #36 thread. It stinks. Hopefully it'll come up at tonight's Board Agenda Meeting.

as one with missing instrument, there was one incident but multiple items missing and they are working on it with those involved

I'm in. Who else?
A fundraiser is nice and I'm in. Before one dime is raised, what is being done about security?

I watched the video. Why did John deWilde get all testy when the topic of solicitor was being discussed?
Where is that in the video (what time)?

Bill Ferrara starts talking about the solicitor RFP around 31:24 after he hands out copies of the draft RFP. John DeWilde starts talking around 32:35.
Some people don't like it when their authority is challenged.
He should heed his own calls for civility.
