So, what controversy will arise out of tonight's meeting? Will a certain high public official once again place his hypocrisy on display? Will public comment include any scathing indictments? Tune in tonight for the next edition of "As the MSD Turns."

That made me think of this:

Wow, that brings back memories of days long gone by.

Will they hire a driver tonight? Will it be someone "on the inside?"

Perhaps a nice commendation for the girls basketball team's achievements is in order. Any chance this happens?

so what's this about former board members attacking current board members at last night's meeting? it sounds like a lot of sour graping to me.

Don't take the bait from that Master Baiter!

Anonymous said...

Right!... What's all this then?

I suppose poster 1 was prognosticating, although it's not much of a stretch there, eh?

Didn't see it, wasn't there, but it sounds like someone who was shut down at her last chance to belittle someone else from the bully pulpit took the opportunity to continue a rant from the peanut gallery.

Anyone care to elaborate?

"Watch the board meeting video at Mv.org it says it all"

Unfortunately, the most recent meeting on the MV site is 2/15, so can watch for LOLs.

Anyone care to provide a synopsis?

can't...can't...can't

Oh man, I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the Star Trek clip! I was just mentioning that the other night, but I was thinking about the original Star Trek. You know, Cap'n Kirk. Wasn't there a similar LaBrea Tar Pit-like thing in one of those episodes too?

Our "Armys" feeds off of attention. Good or bad. Preferably bad. Come to think of it, Armys feeds off of lack of attention too. Try not to engage, and Armys escalates the attacks and the rhetoric.

Like Adrian Balboa says at some point in every Rocky movie, "You can't win!".

"You know, Cap'n Kirk. Wasn't there a similar LaBrea Tar Pit-like thing in one of those episodes too? "

Well....he was kinda made of molten rock.He staged a fight betwixt Kirk, Spock, Abe Lincoln(!),Sarek(Spock's Idol)and a bunch of bad guys to see who was stronger, good or evil. Yes, THAT Abe Lincoln.Good prevailed, thanks to Kirk and Honest Abe's killer left hook.

This time I really fell out of my chair! Hilarious!

Marlys "I will never, never, ever be responsible for any child because I am a school board member" Muckraker is back at work at about the 32 minute mark. How sad and pathetic.

Video is there for 2/22 meeting

Jon said...

The RFP for legal services - has it been sent out?

Just curious. Apologies if it was discussed at the 2/22 meeting, because I was there and I don't remember hearing anything about it. I was hungry, and my mind could have been wandering.

I loved how the timekeeper of the old board was declared out of time with her own repressive and ridiculous rule used against her.

Anonymous said...

so did she take those pens for personal use or was she just saving all of the other old people from free writing instruments?

"I loved how the timekeeper of the old board was declared out of time with her own repressive and ridiculous rule used against her."

The next rule that should be used on her is reasonable and justified:
Removal from the building for personal attacks.

I love Google...Mihok is all for free speech in 1990. Now its 2011 and Marlys is the chief timekeeper squelching comment at the school board.

Plan To Cut Comments Decried
June 10, 1990|By Lisa Bradfield, Special to The Inquirer

Morrisville resident Marlys Mihok told the borough council Wednesday she thought that borough manager Victor Cicero was trying to squelch her right to speak at the board's meetings.

"I am an interested taxpaying resident. Any time the public money is being spent, speaking should be allowed," Mihok said.

Mihok referred to a May 4 memo from Cicero to the council suggesting tight restrictions on public comments at borough meetings. The memo was not released publicly, but copies have circulated in the borough.

http://grammarist.com/usage/alumna-alumnae-alumni-alumnus/

Alumni is a plural noun referring either to a group male graduates or to a group of both male and female graduates. The singular alumnus refers to one male graduate, alumna refers to one female graduate, and the plural alumnae refers to a group of female graduates. These Latin loanwords preserve their original plural forms, and incorrect usage abounds because many speakers of English are understandably unfamiliar with Latin pluralization rules.

If you have trouble keeping track of them all, go with alum and alums. These are increasingly used as replacements for the traditional words—though they may be considered out of place in formal contexts—and they have the extra virtue of being ungendered.

... and the next time you decide to write that you will never ever ever be responsible for any child because you are a school board member, you should edit yourself and simply say that you will never be responsible for any child because you are a school board member. Otherwise, it's incredibly heinous and poor usage, as opposed to just incredibly heinous.

Anonymous said...

GOD willing, Mihok will never ever ever be a school board member again!!!

Please tell me Morrisville as a town, as a community, is better than that.

Anonymous said...

DeWild, Marone, Stout, and Buckman are all up for election in 2013. Perhaps one of these fine gentlemen would step aide for the Queen of the Morrisville Latin pluralization police force.

Can anyone confirm that she really did donate her secretary stipend back to the district?

Anonymous said...

If I could pick one of them to not be on the Board anymore it'd be Stout.

Jon said...

"Can anyone confirm that she really did donate her secretary stipend back to the district?"

I seem to recall, and it may even be in one of the board meeting minutes, that Mihok said she donated her stipends not to the district, but to some cancer-related charity. This was after a fairly long period of time when it appeared that Mihok was keeping her stipends.

I doubt anyone would be able to trace it back, and a normal person with a life wouldn't waste their time bothering. Mihok has been less than truthful on various occasions, so I take everything she says with a boulder of salt.

All positions are non-paying, except that of board secretary. Ms. Mihok donates the $250 annual stipend to Fox Chase Cancer Center each year. The term runs from 2009 to 2013.

School Director Brenda Worob was reappointed as the board's representative to the Pennsylvania School Boards Association. The law firm of Begley, Carlin & Mandio will continue as solicitor.

Anonymous said...

Thank you to the researcher who found the donation information. It's nice that she donated to Fox Chase. No insult is intended to her parents but wasn't the goal of the donation to return it to the district?

Jon said...

Nice job, crack research staff!

And good question, above poster.

Some other things to ponder:

1. Mihok declared where she was donating her stipend on 12/6/2010, 3 full years into her term.

2. I could have sworn Mihok also said she was donating some portion of her stipend to MOEF. Did this ever happen? Surprise me - say yes.

3. Mihok's untrustworthy, hypocritical, and mean. This should be news to no one.

Anonymous said...

Kind of brazen to put someone in for a four year term expiring in 2013 when their term in office could expire (and thankfully did) in 2011. Or is that a typo?

Anonymous said...

I believe Marlys Mihok donated approximately one half of one of her $250 stipends to the foundation in 2009 or so but you'd have to check with MOEF to get the exact amount and time.

Anonymous said...

No typo. Mihok was voted in as Secretary until June 30,2013.

Anonymous said...

THANK GOD we voted her out before then. (I couldn't resist that shout out)

Anonymous said...

I seem to recall the other "paid" roles donating their stipends to underfunded school programs like the band uniforms, etc. in the past. Did that tradition die? It seems to me that was a great way to help support programs that were valued by the students but otherwise weren't important enough to make the budget creators "must keep" list.

I do think donating funds to an outside entity is better than keeping them for personal use, but I question the logic in this. As a board member facing all of the budgetary challenges and needs square in the face, why wouldn't you keep these resources right at home? Oh yeah, I remember, if you are not responsible for these kids as a board member, why would you care about helping make their opportunities just a little better with a painless gesture?

Anonymous said...

Can we all agree that where Mihok donated her stipend is among the least of her vast problems???
