MORRISVILLE — The Morrisville girls basketball team was being forced to do something that isn’t necessarily its strength.
Visiting Delaware County Christian tried to make the Bulldogs win Thursday night’s Bicentennial Athletic League semifinal between the schools by hitting outside shots.

Morrisville didn’t have a stellar night with its outside shooting, but Casandra Martinez and a couple of other teammates hit enough jump shots to help the Bulldogs win their 22nd consecutive game, 47-35.
And with the win, Morrisville (23-1) continued to add to team history, again breaking records for consecutive wins and victories in a season.
The Bulldogs will play for the BAL championship Saturday night at Holy Family College, where they will meet Christopher Dock at 7.
On Thursday night, Martinez and center Katherine Brown gave Morrisville the offense it needed as standout guard Kievanna Lacey struggled shooting the ball for three-and-a-half quarters.
Martinez had a game-high 12 points and Brown added 10. Both seniors scored eight points in a fast-paced first half in which Morrisville emerged with a 28-24 lead.
“It’s all I do in practice,” Martinez said. “I work on my jump shot and I try to perfect it. My coach warned me that they would try to make us shoot from outside.”
Both teams played at a torrid pace in the first quarter, and the Bulldogs, with Martinez and Brown each scoring six points, emerged with a narrow 17-16 advantage.
Things stayed close in both the third and fourth quarters, with Morrisville holding a four-point lead at the half and a 33-30 lead after three quarters.
Morrisville pulled away in the final quarter, in large part by keeping the Knights (12-12) from scoring a point for more than the first five-and-a-half minutes.
“I think we just got warmed up and ready to go,” Martinez said of the fourth quarter. “I don’t think we did anything differently. We had the lead, and it was a big thing for us to step it up and push harder.”
Lacey, who managed just two points during the first three quarters, took over late in the game, scoring eight of the Bulldogs’ final 14 points.
Lacey joined Martinez and Brown in double figures with 10 points. She also had nine rebounds, six steals and three assists.
This season of seasons continues for Morrisville and, at Holy Family on Saturday night, the Bulldogs know they’ll be capable of winning the title, since they beat Christopher Dock in the only meeting between the teams.
“It’s been a great run,” Howell said. “One for the ages for a little school like this. I’m very pleased. I’m very proud of the girls.”
