The new school is dead. Long dead is the new school. We all have to make do without it and with limited resources going forward. Bring forth your practical reasonably priced ideas. Let the liars lie because that's what liars do. Call them on it with truth and more respect than they'll ever give you.

Really? I thought for sure it was the F.B.I., the C.I.A., B.B. King, and Doris Day.

Here is a money saving tip!
Do not mail out physical paperwork to EVERY STUDENT. If a letter must be sent, inform students that are interested in sports that they can download the form from the website.
Better yet, use the phone blast!

Such a waste of paper and postage!

Good idea. Let us pray it's not another good idea that goes to whereever it is good ideas go to die.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure there are multiple convoluted and contradictory explanations for why it's done that way.

Anonymous said...

Let us pray....Separation of church and state says we can't. And honestly, the mass paper mailing that is totally overboard is more likely the result of CYA to avoid a lawsuit. Tis the world in which we live...one full of equality, legality, and every man woman child for themselvesivity!

At this point the whole church/state thing doesn't even apply to Morrisville 21st Century Trinity Elementary Middle High School.

OK, how about going down the old merger road? This horse was beaten and left for dead on the side of the road. perhaps there's some life left in it after all. It makes perfect sense, and who wouldn't want to see their child get all of the opportunities a larger district can afford? Oh, that's right, those clinging to some fantasy of the one room schoolhouse in the small town.

Some new ideas? "Well, we've tried the merger, the new school, the farm out, I think I'm plum out of new idears Ethel!!

Anonymous said...

The forced state takeover. That's an old saw.

Anonymous said...

Go live in a larger district if that is what you are looking for

Anonymous said...

They keep telling us there are less kids, so we save money when they mailed out the physical forms compared to last year.

I don't think it's a bad idea to mail out information about free physicals to everybody. Shouldn't we want the children of Morrisville to see a doctor at least once a year?

If we have board members who don't use the internet we can't expect all parents to have access to download and print forms.

This makes me wonder what percentage of Morrisville students participate in at least one sport?

Anonymous said...

But but but $10's of dollars of paper are at stake!

Anonymous said...

At least it is for the students of Morrisville, it is not money wasted if it gets participation in our sports programs. Because as you all know if we don't have the numbers say GOOD BYE to the sport. example CROSS COUNTRY JV BASEBALL this past year!!!!

Anonymous said...

"Go live in a larger district if that is what you are looking for"

No, why is that the only answer?

Why can't we have the little boro so many of us love AND have a school capable of providing a full curriculum and a full complement of extra-curriculars for a decent price?

Your answer sucks!

Anonymous said...

Even if you do have the #'s, somebody may still say you don't. That kind of ridiculousness needs to stop.

Don't make the sports letters semi-"verbatim" like the S.B. mtg. minutes. It costs the taxpayer like $0.87/month in extra paper and ink to document Mihok & Worob's rants & attacks.

Just read an article on the Trentonian Online that Ivan Colon has resigned as Softball Coach and plans to run for School Board. Colon was negative towards the present Administration saying he was micro managed, He said he is going to let the truth out. What does Colon know that we don't? Or is he a disgruntled former employee. Let the people know Ivan.

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Morrisville coach Ivan Colon steps down after 20 years

It was the end of an historic era yesterday when Morrisville’s Ivan “The Guru of High School Softball” Colon announced he will not be returning as head coach.

Colon, who guided the Bulldogs to 198 wins, made it official he was stepping down after 20 years at the Morrisville helm. The conjecture was he might continue to coach the team because his daughter Margarita will be back as a sophomore pitcher next year, but Colon made it clear he has had enough. “I’m officially resigning,” said Colon, who also runs a highly-successful business known as ‘The Grillin’ Guru.’ “I can not coach under these conditions. The (school) administration wants to micromanage, but I coach a certain way. “The administration comes from Pennsbury and Neshaminy, but we’re not Pennsbury or Neshaminy. We’re Morrsville, and you have to do things differently because of the (lack of) numbers.” In addition to guiding Morrisville to nearly 200 wins, Colon led the Bulldogs to a district title in 1999 and a Bicentennial Athletic League crown in 1998. Under Colon’s brilliant leadership, Morrisville also won four BAL division titles. Obviously, the high school softball scene won’t be the same without Colon around. On the other hand, Morrisville has not heard the last of Colon. “I’m going to run for the school board,” said Colon. “I’m going to tell the truth; I’m going to let the truth come out.” Considering Colon’s considerable connections in Mo’ville and his legendary status as a coach, it wouldn’t be surprising if he won the school board election in

"People that live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."

You are describing a goodly portion of the residents of Mville. Logic or thoughtfulness rarely enters the equation when someone feels the need to publicly castigate another.

Sometimes this is amusing, but all too often, it's just sad for all parties involved.

On another topic, anyone know why the Boro Council hasn't become involved in any of the Shale drilling fights? We seem to have a major stake in this (Our drinking water - which all too often is apparently not up to snuff judging from the number of violation notices we get.)yet there hasn't been any noise from our leadership on this, and I wonder why.

Said person's reasons for selling their home and moving their children away from this district even though they ran for school board and won on a certain ticket may or may not say anything remotely close to logic at all is another matter. The fact that said person allegedly has a degree in politics from a prestigious private college may or may not say anything to anyone. Or maybe it should...

And there are several thousand largely indifferent people who do even more damage by failing to pay attention to the real issues and possible solutions. This is the real tragedy here. The electorate allows itself to be led like sheep by the prevarications of some of these dangerous individuals you mention. Perhaps if a bit more thought was taken before entering the voting booth, we'd all be in a better place, not juts locally, but at every level of government. The poster above has hit on something I've seen noted in here before, why can't we get quality leadership in this town? The biggest reason I see is that anyone worthy of their salt who stands up, gets smacked down so hard they wind up withdrawing from any civic involvement whatsoever, or they pack up and move somewhere where they can live without the threats, character assassination, and personal denigration that pervades every level of governance in Morrisville. Like water, civics in the Ville seeks its level, and unfortunately, the level, like the river in summer, is quite low.

Borough council limits public comment time
Posted: Friday, July 13, 2012 12:00 am
BRISTOL — Residents now are limited to three minutes of public speaking during Bristol Borough Council meetings.

The council passed the time-limit resolution unanimously earlier this week.

"This is something we've needed to do for a while," said council President Ralph DiGuiseppe.

Other municipalities, such as Middletown and Bristol Township, have time limits for public comments during their meetings.

Middletown has a policy of an initial public comment session in the beginning of each meeting lasting no more than 30 minutes and, if exceeded, a second session is held at the end of the meeting. Bristol has a one-hour time limit for all public comment and caps each resident to five minutes.

"Our meetings have lasted really long in the past and this will let everyone have their say and make it more efficient at the same time," added DiGuiseppe.

Can the importance of our school district's future, and the future of my children's education be stated any more clear?

The moment one of these retread/power hungry/ false humane pillars of hatred come into power...it's over. And I mean forever over. Morrisville as a community has just one chance left before it burries itself in its own jealousy. Sadly, I think Morrisville is the only community in Bucks County that hates its own school. See what happens when there isn't one...Trenton isn't too far.

Anonymous said...

Why just one more chance? This dance of self-loathing has gone on for decades. I do think it is self-destructive, but I am curious as to why you feel, "This is it."

Anonymous said...

I agree. This is just another do-si-do in the dismal square dance.

Anonymous said...

Which retread/power hungry/ false humane pillars of hatred applied?

Anonymous said...

"Sadly, I think Morrisville is the only community in Bucks County that hates its own school."

You need to read the paper more often. There is plenty of community hatred directed at all of the schools. Some of it is inter-generational, some of it is simply ignorance, and some of it is in response to years and years of ever increasing taxes. The assessment mess in Bucks certainly doesn't help at all either. Perhaps it seems more intense, as we are so small, and everything seems to get magnified as a result.

Still seems to me that living in Morrisville, including all its warts, is still one of the best values in Bucks county.

Anonymous said...

The presence of a handful of angry nasty lying hypocritical jerks certainly gets magnified here.

Anonymous said...

If they farm out the kids it's over. Now you are negotiating with a company to determine the cost for a year per student. It might seem like big savings at first, but once the other schools are sold and gone what do you do if the school you farm the kids to raises the rate higher than you like? Sue them like the Tech School?

Anonymous said...

I'm not so sure the high school as it has been watered down to over the past five years is the best thing for the children of this district.

Anonymous said...

And why does it have to be with a company, how about another district near by.
Change is needed, time to think outside the box. Problem is anytime someone says something that certain people don't agree with you get tared and feathered, and that goes for both sides!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Sell now and get out of Dodge! When the school district is dismantled, what little value is left in our homes will drop.

Anonymous said...

I believe this discussion is about as close to 100% pointless as you can get. Merger has been talked about for 40+ years. You want it to happen, go ahead and make it happen. I won't hold my breath. I won't hold my breath for a farmout either. If SOC couldn't do it with practically all S.B. votes, then it ain't happening now. Both sides? It's all relative. It's at least 90/10 SOC in my estimation.

Anonymous said...

who said merger or dismantle the district. What if the district just became a K to 8 district. I can't see how you can think we can offer our HS students anything close to say a pennsbury or even the tech school. Many school districts in NJ share a high school but retain their own lower grades. We have to think outside the box.

Anonymous said...

and for the poster who said sell and get out of town now before our home values drop, for your information most parents pull their children out just before going on to the HS level.
so how would my idea hurt home values. And aren't home values just a few block away in the pennsbury district higher just because they are in pennsbury

Anonymous said...

Great. Go ahead and build the whatever socioeconomic and political coalitions are necessary to make a merger happen. I won't stand in your way. I wish you luck in achieving what no one else could in over 40-50 years.

Anonymous said...

Blah, Blah, Blah.

Same Sh*t, different day.

And to the person who claims it's 90/10 for the SOCers with the tar and feathers, please learn some of the history of this town. The first poster got it right, say something that rocks the boat, and the angry mob will be at your throat in an eye blink. It doesn't matter which "side" you are on. The pack smells blood, and they close quickly for the kill. Oh, and don't look for your allies when this happens, they disappear faster than a prairie dog down his hole.

Anonymous said...

Clue us in on this history you claim to know so much about. What I see is the 90/10 SOC is about right, with the 10 non-SOC mostly driven by something nasty an SOC said or did.

Jon said...

To spice up the discussion, can anyone answer this?

Who said:

"Why do I believe reorganization (of the Morrisville Schools) is necessary? One must go back to 1956 when a survey was conducted by the Pennsylvania Economy league to determine whether a jointure should be approved with the Pennsbury Schools. Recommendations at that time indicated that the advantages would outweigh the disadvantages."?

When did they say it?

Jon said...

Answer:

Dr. Paul Phillips
Superintendent

Anonymous said...

"Clue us in on this history you claim to know so much about. What I see is the 90/10 SOC is about right, with the 10 non-SOC mostly driven by something nasty an SOC said or did."

OK, most recently, take a look at what happened to Dr. Gibson and her board. Or if that's not enough, try the Junkins Board. Continue back and you'll see the same crap being repeated. If you'd stand back, perhaps you'd recognize that there's plenty of bad behavior to go around. Just because you disagree with someone, doesn't make all their actions evil and all yours pure. But hey, why listen to an anonymous rant on an obscure blog? when your righteous indignation seems to be sufficient to drive your beliefs.

Anonymous said...

Jon, answering yourself? Isn't that bad form?

Although, I agree with the sentiment, and think if anything, the advantages in the current world would even further outweigh the disadvantages. God forbid anyone really try to get this started though. It will be the new school fiasco all over again. Don't you get it? There will be no change allowed in Morrisville. We will cling stubbornly to the status quo as we slowly sink into the morass of our own making, blindly attacking anyone who attempts to pull us from the mud.

Jon said...

It's bad form, but it wasn't a question I was expecting anyone to answer. It's too obscure.

I can only speak for myself, but I want to move forward with level headed reasonable civil decision-making based on real facts. We've had too many lies, distortions, ideology, and dirty politics. I have never thought I had all the answers. I didn't vote for the "Gibson Board". I know who built them up though. I barely remember Ken Junkins, and I'm not familiar with his "crap". Longevity here doesn't equate to widsom or common sense.

I'm never sure when the past is appropriate to discuss. It seems like it's only appropriate when it's convenient. When it's not convenient, it's "stop dwelling on the past, let's move on". I believe a few bad apples are spoiling the whole bunch for the rest of us. I don't see how we can move forward when we have some of the same people in positions of power who for decades have demonstrated little or no ability to work together with anyone they disagree with.

Anonymous said...

Every time you start to think it's just regular people agreeing to disagree, you hear about some freak show moves someone from Camp SOC is making either behind the scenes or at public meetings. Mistrust is a major problem.

Anonymous said...

RE: 'both sides'. You can't be serious putting anybody else in the same league as Worob, Mihok, Hellman etc etc. They don't have dimmer switches or off switches. They accept no info contrary to their dim and narrow worldview. It's unfair to even compare. Who else even comes close on said 'other side'???

Anonymous said...

"I didn't vote for the "Gibson Board". I know who built them up though."

I did vote for them, and I thought they tried to do the right thing. Who cares if someone helped get them started? I saw a group of people try very hard to handle an impossible situation they best way they saw how. Sad what happened to them, and now I think most of them are gone from Morrisville.

Jon said...

I agree. My point is that the Worobs and the Mihoks of the world try to pin "new school" labels on people as if it was something evil that they had nothing to do with, yet never take a look in the mirror and face their own role in it. Like recruiting the candidates and getting them elected, and Steve Worob getting up on his own furniture to proclaim himself King of Morrisville when they won. And stiff arming prior board's attempts to address decaying buildings. And blowing money locking out workers, cutting books and programs, and buying out Superintendents. That's what I'm sick of. I will readily fade back a bit into the woodwork like many others when I'm more satisfied folks like them aren't running the educational show or having undue influence on it.

Anonymous said...

Somebody's gotta watch the watchers. Look what these self-proclaimed watchdogs do even when someone is watching. The main thing the so called other side does is point out what they do. They don't like it. Tough crap. Stop doing the underlying things that bring it on.

Anonymous said...

It really was sad what happened to the Gibson board members.

Remind me , who led the charge on that?

I for one am waiting for examples of how the "other side" does anything near what "Camp SOC" does? How long must I wait?

Camp SOC. I like that.

Anonymous said...

I wonder which coward(s) typed and mailed anonymous threat letters to school board members homes back in the "Gibson era"? Looking back on it, the writing style seems really familiar.

Anonymous said...

The sad thing about parents pulling there kids out of MSD when they reach High School is that's what has allowed for the watering down. Things have been cut or programs have been changed due to low enrollment. There are plenty of Seniors getting into good college every year from Morrisville. High School is what you make of it. There are all kinds of opportunities at Morrisville if you look around. Where are you going to send your kids where they know just about every staff member. Parents have to be involved and be vocal about the programs they want their kids to have. I didn't hear a single whimper when Family & Consumer Science died. Hell there was more noise for MS Football and Cross Country than when the 2nd HS Music teacher was sent down to be a 4th grade teacher. All the cuts and changes is what the past 5 years of no tax increases have bought us.

Anonymous said...

So true. Cuts are cuts, too. When you say they aren't, you may think you're being crafty, but you come off as dishonest and untrustworthy. That's the stuff of lost 2011 Morrisville school board elections.

Anonymous said...

"Remind me , who led the charge on that?"

Does it really matter who led it? It seems the angry mob took up torches and pitchforks willingly enough.

Anonymous said...

That they did. Help us get a few things straight: Those who speak out truthfully against chief pot stirrers of the angry mob are part of the angry mob?
We need to get on your good train that can take shots at "both sides", which are 50%/50% equal to blame in all of this mess we're in?
Yes, it does matter who led it. They're still leading it.

They can only lead where people are willing to follow.
