Who's Tan Rested and Ready to be Pres?

there's only one choice. make a call to the bullpen and let's bring back the only president who can keep all of us united. HELLMANN!!!

Wheel him in with a SOC Emblazoned bullpen cart like Major League Baseball used in the 1970's, and I'm so there! Marlis drives and helps him remove his WH, CPA, SOC warmup jacket. What a thrill!

Great idea! Maybe Hubiak would offer the athletic dept scooter for the event. Can we avoid having Marlys undress him in public.

If Damon Miller's parents ever told him someday he'd grow up to be President, I don't think this is what they had in mind. Congratulations to all, though!

This is as big for Morrisville Schools as tearing down the Berlin Wall was to the world. Congratulations Damon !!!

I would call Damon the Ronald Reagan of Morrisville but I don't consider that a compliment.

This is a great step forward with board officers who have ethics and use common sense. Congratulations all around!

Thank you John Dewilde for your service and occasional attempts to keep free range chickens Mihok and Worob in their coops.

Board president pledges to keep district from going over fiscal cliff

The Pennsbury School District should not be subject to the “deliberate divisiveness” that soon could send the United States over a “fiscal cliff,” the governing body’s president said Monday night.

“The district happens to be about the children,” President Allan Weisel said. “That’s very important to me.”

Weisel made the comments while reading a written statement a short time after school board members voted unanimously to elect him to a second year as the board’s president.

Following the meeting, the Republican from Lower Makefield said he was compelled to write the statement over the weekend after learning that some “local political agitators” were circulating emails bad-mouthing him. Weisel would not identify the “agitators.”

“I will not succumb to petty allegations that I have compromised my ideological views simply by cooperating with individuals who I do not always agree with,” Weisel said during the meeting while reading the statement.

Cooperation is needed on the board to handle some “daunting challenges” in the next year, he said.

They include the district’s move toward closing one of Pennsbury’s elementary schools, the examination of what renovations need to be done to district facilities and reaching labor agreements with the district’s teachers union and support staff, he said.

“If we become partisan over these issues it will absolutely ensure that we will not be able to work for the common betterment of the Pennsbury School District,” Weisel said.

The board president pledged to work with newly-elected Vice President Gary Sanderson, a Democrat from Falls.

He described Sanderson as a person whom he could “not always ideologically agree with, but respect as an individual with another point of view.”

Sanderson won election to the position by a 7-2 vote. Former vice president Simon Campbell and Steve Kosmorsky voted against the nomination.

They wanted to nominate Chris Cridge, a Lower Makefield Republican. Cridge declined the nomination.

After the meeting, Kosmorsky said he didn’t “talk to the newspapers,” and Campbell left quickly.

The Region 1 representative weighed in on the board president’s speech in an email to the newspaper Tuesday.

“Listening to Weisel’s prepared speech designed to justify his vote (for Sanderson) was painful to hear,” Campbell said in the email. “He was arrogantly telling the public not to question him. Yet the public has every right to question him and hold him accountable at the ballot box.”

Campbell, a staunch union critic, said he believes Weisel, a Region 3 representative, cut a deal with the Democrats who make up the minority on the board to secure their votes. He feels that way, even though Weisel had enough votes from GOP board members to retain the presidency without the Democratic members support.

“Allan Weisel just sold his soul,” Campbell said.

The board president’s attempt to work with all members of the governing body will likely result in him facing a primary challenge in the 2013 school board races, the former board vice president said.

“I supported Weisel for (board) president because I believe in being a team player within the governing majority Republican caucus,” Campbell said in the email. “However I will oppose him in the elections for his desire to please the teachers union and the Falls Township Democratic Committee instead of respecting the will of the people.”

A positive sign that Pennsbury is also getting tired of its dirt-flinging zealots like Simon Campbell, ideological soulmate of Hellman, Mihok, Worob etc.
Simon's starting to crack, get ready to take his toys and go home because he's not getting his way.

Congratulations to you all. It is wonderful to know that our board is being led by people who are level headed and will listen to what everyone has to say. They will then work together to make the best decissions they can for the betterment of Morrisvilles youth. Looking forward to seeing what the future brings.

This has restored a little bit more of my faith in Morrisville. A great folloup to electoral defeat of Marlis, Hellman, Al Radosti and Ruffrauff.
