Thank you for voting there is more work to be done. Listen closely to what people are saying. Congrats to Dave Rivella he is a great man. Glad your supports came out. Does anyone know how Mary Singleton did? I hope her write in attempt worked. She was really present in this election not only for herself but for Dave, Ivan, Pat, and Connie. Nice to see that people didn't make her or her supporters act uncharteristic because the lady at the door support Cicero was visious and said every nasty thing about Mary and friends she could. What is politics without one ignorant person!!!! When I find out her name I will repost because everyone needs to know about her and how disgraceful she was. Great job to the "People Choice". Someone please update the write in ballot results.

Her name is Pat Schell she has been in the Morrisville election stuff for years. She is awful and loud and reprehensible. Mary should have put a muzzle on her.

AnonymousWednesday, May 22, 2013Pat Schell is tacky. She was the only person at the polls playing dirty politics. I had my mind made up when I went to grandview today I was voting for Victor Cicero, but with that loud mouth on his side NO WAY. She has no tact bringing up peoples personal tragedies, calling people liars and users and all. I don't know the write in Mary Singleton very well but I did write her in. She seems authentic and I look forward to getting to know her. I really hope she gets on the ballot if not I hope she tries again in November. Cicero I have always supported you every step of the way but not with that loud mouth behind you all the way. She is going to ruin things for you. Way to go Mary and supports for now lowering yourself to her level. She did tell me she likes Mary with friends like Pat Schell and company who needs enemies. Please update with write in results.

Republican political games in the 3rd ward. They used the same tactic that gave us Rita Ledger. Run an unknown against the Democrat but to try and take the incumbent down as a Dem but also write him in as a Republican. So now former Democrat Bowers runs as a Republican against Democrat Fred Kerner.

Want more Ledger lunacy? Vote Bowers.

Kerner, Franklin win in Morrisville

Posted: Wednesday, May 22, 2013 12:00 am

By Anthony DiMattia Correspondent

Incumbent Morrisville Councilman Fred Kerner could likely serve another term after taking Tuesday’s primary election.

He beat out Democratic candidate Justin Bowers in the Third Ward. Kerner received 98 votes to Bowers’ 62.

“It’s like nothing happened,” Kerner said after his victory, because “it’s all going to happen again in the fall.”

Kerner doesn’t have a Republican opponent as of yet for November; a write-in candidate might appear, though.

In the tax collector race, Democrat Pat Pordash won with 251 votes. Her opponent, Robin Reithmeyer, a former school board member, collected 221 votes.

Uncontested candidates in some primary races have the November ballot set.

For mayor, Republican Sandra Kitty Westrope is running against Democrat Dave Rivella.

For the Fourth Ward council race, incumbent Democrat Victor Cicero has no Republican challenger as yet.

In the First Ward, Republican Todd Sanford will face Democrat Corryn Kronnagel. Pordash will face off against Republican Elaine Miller.

Democrats hold a sizable voter registration lead in Morrisville.

Firstly, thank you for voting and Congratulations to all. I had an opportunity to witness everything that went on at Grandview Elementary School on Election Day. Mary Singleton is my mother and she ran as a write-in for borough council to represent the people of the 4th Ward. She also supported other candidates that she feels will work for the good of our beloved borough. Please pay no attention the negative comments and continue to see people for whom and what they really are. We need to come together and work for the good of Morrisville; this is what my mother stands for. I am very proud of my mother for being able to rise above yesterday’s whispers and shouts! Morrisville does need people that will represent the people their wards and not people that focus on the politics. No matter what my mother will continue to be an active member of the Morrisville community and a voice that will never go away.

Patricia Schell is corrupt, always has been, always will be. Because she is so uneducated, she resorts to personal attacks as she did with Mary and Dave yesterday. They do not care about ALL of the people of Morrisville. They could care less about all the people in the apartments and most of the people that live in the houses by the apartments. I have never seen then over there talking to people. I have seen Mary Singleton though. Most of the people around her love and respect her. I did hear her call Mary a friend in one sentence and in the other sentence call the people that she is supporting users and liars. I guess you should include yourself in the comments because I am sure you used Mary to get the “apartment/black vote”! You need to practice some decorum. Funny thing is Mary Singleton or Victor Cicero were not negative towards one another, but his supporter needs to take an etiquette class or take lessons from the ladies helping Mary and company at the polls.

People aren't buying this Rivellas nonsense anymore. They can stick their hurt feelings you know where. Grow up to the point where you can accept you don't always get your way. Who else are you going to add to your growing list of people you don't speak to anymore??? Enough!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Write-ins aren't official right away. Unofficially Mary had about 63 democratic votes. And, at least 10 to 20 write-ins written in the wrong place on the ballot. As well as a few Republican write-ins. Subsequently, if Mary had been on the ballot there may have been a different outcome.

At that time, Dave posted a thank you to everyone on in the comment section of an earlier post, then he left for work. Right now its 4:03pm and this is the first I'm seeing all of this. Don't put our names on any of this because we have nothing to do with these posts.

Imagine what could be accomplished in this town if both sides of this issue were to get along. The division has only made both sides weaker. I ask that all involved settle your differences like adults and find where each person can play a vital role in making this town great like both sides claim they want. Check your egos and your desire for power at the door. Leave the past behind because there is nothing that will change that. Do it now before it's too late and the ones you don't want in power get it because they've slipped through the cracks. The results from yesterday's election are already showing that trend.

Anonymous said...

I don't know who did what where or how. I just know for certain that there are very few elected officials, Republican or Democrat, in this town that I would consider trustworthy. Frank Underwood in House of Cards is the ultimate definition of an untrustworthy character. Most Morrisville pols are merely experienced untrustworthy self interested individuals.

Who's going to be the first to extend the olive branch and be the more mature group?

Anonymous said...

The question is - who gets things done? Rivella has brought only good things to the Borough. You don't have to like him, but he has always acted in the Borough's best interest.
Kudos to Mary Singleton for challenging Cicero. I hope to see more of her. I voted for her and found the write in process confusing, so I am not surprised that there were some incorrect placements for her on the ballot.
Pat Schell needs to pack it in, she was disgraceful. I saw what she did yesterday, and it was horrible. Shame, shame on her.the people who count her as a supporter should look again.

Anonymous said...

How many write in votes did Cicero get on the republican side? That will tell you a lot. Is he running against himself? Does anyone know?

Anonymous said...

Yes, he is. When I went to vote, Pat was spewing something to someone but she knew she didn't need to send any of it my way. Buckman had written Victor's name on the bottom of the Rep sample ballots & was telling people to vote for him as their write in. Buckman was handing out golf pencils to allow people to vote for Vic. In thinking about this, the pencils tells me that Jack & Victor had planned it beforehand. I couldn't help but see that Victor was sitting with Buckman while I was there, which was a while because I was pretty gabby.

Go get a job, hobby, or volunteer stop the bashing. Come together and work together people, stop playing the blame/name game. I have to give kudos to people that owned up to there post and signed their names. Shows tranparency.

The most recent comment (about Mrs. Singleton)really is the worst Morrisville has to offer. It really is terrible.

Please remember that this blog is open to the public. It's what you are giving out to the world. Sadly, that last comment about Mrs. Singleton is what the poster has told people of the world about Morrisville.

I feel like I need a shower.

I'm sure there are many more examples of election tomfoolery that needs to stop, but here's an easy one:

In Ward 1, during the vote counting, please stop reading the names of the people casting absentee ballots before proceeding to read who these people voted for.

I'm not a legal expert, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's against the law to betray the confidentiality of a person's vote. Even if it isn't illegal, I think it's fundamentally wrong.

I'll retract this statement if someone shows me in the laws and rules that you're supposed to do this.

Kevin L said...

In Ward 3, there were three absentee ballots. The outer envelopes were opened first by the constable and shuffled. Then the inner envelopes were opened by the judge randomly so that there was no way to know who voted for whom. The voters names were never announced.

deb said...

mary singleton was a pawn, used by mayor candidate and that candidate needs to wake up and smell the coffee that their negative campaign will not get them a vote. enough people are trying to tell you, get over yourself and all you do for the borough and show people how you move on if you want the vote

Jon said...

Thanks, Kevin. I was there for that in Ward 3. That's how it was done, and that's how it should be done.

People like to say, and rightfully so, "it's nobody's business but yours what you do in that booth". Why would anyone throw that entire concept out the window when it comes to absentee ballots?

Bucks County nets lowest voter turnout ever Tuesday

May 23, 2013
By James McGinnis Staff writer

Voter turnout sunk to a new low in Bucks County this week with fewer than one in 10 residents taking part in Tuesday’s primary election.

Just 9.86 percent of registered voters took part in the elections for many county offices, school boards and town councils, according to county voter statistics. The board of elections could point to no election with weaker voter participation. The previous record of 11.8 percent turnout was recorded during a special election held for a state Senate seat back in September 2009.

Still, the numbers seemed believable to those who were out at the polls on Tuesday.

Doylestown Councilman Det Ansinn was one of a handful of area residents tweeting about the election and using the hashtag #BucksVotes.

“That hashtag was starting to get ironic,” he said. “I was beginning to think we should change it to ‘#BucksVotes???’ ”

Vote totals provided by the county suggest a slowly fading interest in local races over the past decade.

Bucks is home to 186,222 registered Democrats and about 8.6 percent participated in Tuesday’s primary, according to unofficial election returns. Just 16,000 ballots were cast in most countywide Democratic races.

GOP faithful were slightly more inclined to vote, numbers show.

Bucks is home to 175,105 registered Republicans, according to voter registration records. About 14.6 percent of them – or 25,000 residents – voted in the GOP’s most-heated contest for prothonotary, according to unofficial election returns.

By contrast, some local races garnered attention from fewer than 100 voters.

In Richlandtown, the next mayor could sail into office after receiving just 65 votes on Tuesday. Only 80 ballots were cast in the mayor’s race for a town populated by 1,300 residents, according to the last U.S. Census.

Incumbent Carl T. Raub III, lost with just 15 votes. Winner James S. Dunn, Jr. faces no challenge in the general election this autumn.

Turnout is generally weakest during local primary elections in Bucks County. Roughly 13 percent turned out for municipal primary elections in 2011 and 2009, according to the county. One in four voters took part in local primary held May 2007.

Roughly twice as many voters turned out for general elections held in November for local candidates, records show. Voter turnout averaged 27 percent during November elections held during the years 2011, 2009, 2007, 2005 and 2003

Last year’s contest between President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney drew an estimated 74 percent of local voters to the polls.

"Why would anyone throw that entire concept out the window when it comes to absentee ballots?"

Because they could, that's why. If this really happened, someone who witnessed it needs to report this misuse of government power to the county. I'm tired of self profesed power players in this town playing with peoples lives. Who is the elections judge in the 1st ward?

I agree, but you should examine your argument more carefully. First you say Race shouldn't matter, a belief I strongly hold and share with you, and then you go on to identify yourself as black, as if somehow that should matter or make your argument matter more.

All racists should be called out on their shenanigans. Don't provide the closed minded with fodder by carelessly stating your positions. Unless you meant that, and then I say, you're a hypocrite, but I want to believe that's not the case.

Fight the good fight, every moment, every day. It's the only way.

Eileen Dreisbach mishandled another public duty? You don't say.

She's a cancer on the town, and the sooner she gets removed from any position of responsibility, the better.

Anonymous said...

Oh, just cooperate folks, fall in line or you'll be next.

Don't think Eileen has been working for the community? Don't try to do anything about it though, because it will be your house the town folk show up at blazing torches & holding pitchforks.

If Eileen ran for council again, I have no doubt she would be re-elected. Honesty & integrity take a backseat to popularity in some cases.

Anonymous said...

Yes, I can see that. She seems to be well liked by many in the first ward.

Anonymous said...

Ward 1 has more than its fair share of true believers and conspiracy theorists.

Anonymous said...

Eileen is well-liked? I struggle with that, as she seems to me to be one of the most unlikeable people I've ever encountered. Everything about her is a major turn-off. She's uncultured, uncouth, haggard, shrill, uninformed, close-minded, obnoxious, irritating, abrasive, unpleasant, uninspired and uninspiring. In short, I can't think of a single positive thing to say about her. Now I feel bad, as I've broken one of my parents' cardinal rules about not saying anything if you can't say something positive. Sorry mom and dad, but she deserves it!!!
