Morrisville Hiring 3 More Cops - BCCT's Take

Morrisville hiring 3 more cops

Morrisville's governing council has authorized the borough police department to increase the number of full-time cops on the force by 50 percent. With the departure of Frederick Devesa, the interim police department director, the force will continue running as usual before his hiring in late July – with an officer in charge. There are no current plans to replace Devesa.
Mayor Rita Ledger said the department will continue running without a lead administrator, an arrangement that’s been going on since former Chief Jack Jones’ contract ended in December.
Lt. Thomas Herron will continue to run the department of six current full-time and four part-time officers.
Devesa started July 30 and by Aug. 19 he was gone; he resigned last week. An official said Devesa wasn’t getting cooperation from certain individuals, but didn’t identify them.
“He had a stellar resume,” Ledger said. “I enjoyed someone who wanted to work and achieve things.”
Devesa was supposed to be the lead administrator for the department until a new police chief was hired. Devesa was earning between $5,000 and $7,000 a month.
During this week’s council meeting, Devesa’s departure wasn’t discussed publicly. Instead, after a two-hour executive discussion, the council voted unanimously to hire three-full time officers. Their pay will depend on their experience and the police contract, borough manager Tom Bates said.
Councilman Victor Cicero, a former Morrisville police chief, advised the borough to get recommendations from the Bucks County Chief's of Police Association, which has a list of eligible police officers. Such a move would reduce the cost to the borough for physical and agility testing of applicants, he said.
Borough resident Taylor Ford, who has attended council meetings in recent months to push for more police coverage, expressed relief at the decision to hire additional officers.

It had the Mayor's picture - I had to post it.

The guy left because Rita wouldn't work with him.

Not surprising, I'd be shocked if it was anything but that. What (if anything) does Rita do for a living? She doesn't seem like she could hold a decent job in the real world.

Anonymous said...

What is Rita's employment?
Drumming up lawsuits designed to milk much needed tax dollars from the very community she serves?

I know it's none of my business but I have to say that in seeing her around town over the years I have often wondered what she does for a living. I know that when she was campaigning she had gotten a job with a local company owned by one of her friends. I assumed it was to have a job while running for office because she only had the job for a very short period of time.

I know the type. Suck at their job, can't get along with others, disruptive, inappropriate, just don't get it. Claim victimhood, have the lawsuit paperwork already filled out for when they inevitably get the ax for sucking at their job.

Those that don't understand criticize
He left because he was NEVER officially hired, was left vulnerable to lawsuits and had no clear job description. In fact, he met with the Mayor numerous times and understood where she was coming from. He discovered who the real problems were and left. Ask him. He also learned the $130,000.00 investigation was a witch hunt. I guess you are just doing damage control because the truth is coming out. And much more of it very soon!

Puke it all out there. All the so-called facts as your minds see them.

You report.

We decide.

That picture makes her look constipated. This is a perfect metaphor for Morrisville dysfunction.

This clusterfuck of Borough government is a disgrace, and it is quite obvious that none of these players has an inkling of what they are doing, with the end result of bad outcomes, bad press and declining quality and value in Morrisville.

To the defender of this BS, give some examples of just how any of these people are actually doing a good job, because we have plenty of evidence to the contrary. All you've done is spout unfounded and probably untrue nonsense, with not one iota of fact to back it up.

In fact, I did have a conversation with Mr. Devesa. It's a lie that he was never officially hired because he was.

Everyone is vulnerable to lawsuits. The man was a judge. Being vulnerable to lawsuits is nothing new to him.

"In fact, he met with the Mayor numerous times and understood where she was coming from. He discovered who the real problems were and left. Ask him."

You are correct, they did meet and lack of cooperation on the mayor's part is why he left. She wouldn't work with him. I did ask the man. If you know the mayor well enough to know that she met with him several times then you fully realize that what you are saying isn't true. Sounds like you know her well enough to know what she does for a living. Now here you had the ability to be honest, but bother to answer the question posed.

As far as the investigation goes, he knew about it before he was hired. He learned quite the opposite of what you said.

I don't have to do any damage control. I am comfortable with the truth. Seemed like what your whole post was about damage control though.

I have no idea what in inside the investigation report, but I have no doubt that the truth will come out. I'm counting on it.

It's unfortunate that you continue to use diversionary tactics rather than be honest. Give it a try, you might like it.

A child kidnapper has been rolling around for days...and it gets a Friday afternoon mention . Great job.

Not nec. the paper's fault. The Reporter says Morrisville PD didn't release the info 'til today.

Hey Fletch, we'd have GLADLY printed it and put it online sooner if Morrisville PD had released it before today.

The guy left because several members of the council lied to him.

If you still believe the crap they are telling you to spread. Contact Commonwealth Court in Bucks County and find out about the recent ruling AGAINST the council and the price we as taxpayers have to pay because of their inept and incompetent actions.

Lord, do you actually believe your own crap. What are you talking about?!!!!!

Council only met Mr. Devesa last Monday at their executive session meeting!
(That was after he had already quit)

Anonymous said...

OMG! I cannot wait for election time to be over.

If this ruling actually existed, my guess is that you would have it filed away with the rest of your campaign materials. Prove you aren't full of it, produce the document. Post it to this blog. Oh, you can't because it doesn't exist.

There is NO such ruling, but you already know that. If you want to make your case, at the very least, site the ruling with case no. I know this is impossible because there is no such ruling. And when you cannot back it up, I'm sure you'll move on to trashing something else. (Hint, You're new at this but the people who read this blog already know your strategy - they've been around your brand of campaigning a lot longer than you realize.)

I agree. Why don't you save us all a lot of trouble and explain exactly what Commonwealth Court in Bucks County ruling you're talking about and how it all went down. I doubt more than 0 people are going to go on a research mission on your say so.

HaHaHa Love it. I just knew it was the mayor. It doesn't even make sense that it would be because of council. They have no routine interaction with the police chief/director.

I wouldn't expect this person to put any blame on the Mayor. After all they are working together.

Anonymous said...

I think it's the actual judgement you are wanting to see.

If this person was talking about the case that the Mayor is pursuing, it's my understanding that it hasn't even gone to court yet.

Anonymous said...

That's a little detail that was left out. Though win or lose, it's a win in the mind of an SOC. If you win, hot diggity, even a blind squirrel can find a nut once in a while. If you lose, blame it on a conspiracy.

I read Steve Worob's book, which "focused" (I didn't think I would use that word in a sentence about his book) on a court case he lost. I found that when I dug a little beneath the surface, his "facts" and "arguments" didn't hold water, had more holes than a Swiss Cheese factory, and other similar cliches.

My advice is to collect the info, do your own research, and make up your own mind. If you just take someone else's word for it, you're shortchanging yourself. If you want to be shortchanged, well, that's another story entirely.

Question:

How could the council only have met Mr. Devesa last Monday if he has been working for the borough for two weeks?

That makes no sense!

Anonymous said...

Boy Who Cried Wolf, quit cryin'. You cried so damn much I wouldn't believe you if a wolf was ready to chomp my ass. See what a Wolf Pack of lies does to you? It ruins you. Puts your credibility right into a cesspool. For all I know you have a point BUT I can't trust you as far as I can bowl you. I suck at bowling and you're probably a load, so that's not far. And that's the honest truth. Take your petty little whinefest outside into a parking lot, preferably outside the town limits. Prove something with hard evidence or shove it.

Oh come on, even I can answer this one. Mr. Devesa was hired by Mr. Bates. There was even an article in the newspaper about this.

Gassy Know it All said...

Did you ever stop and think the Devesa story might be a CIA style black ops plant? In New Zealand there was a full newspaper profile on Devesa the day he quit even though it was already the NEXT DAY in N.Z., it being across the International Date Line. Think about it. Not too hard though, I'm just B.S.'ing you, as I think this whole insipid food fight is beyond ludicrous. Or am I? Or is it?

With SOC, you get a swirl of BS, followed by the empty feeling that you got even further away from the truth. SOC, I pity you for being so misguided, but I also condemn you for foisting it on the rest of us! The 1st step is admitting you have a problem, and it's a step you'll never take.
