Here's a song for all the little men, who get forgotten Trodden time and time again Here's a message for the little guy, don't let this situation pass you by You're in the middle while the big mouths fight You get it from the left and the right, ain't it crazy
So get out of your easy chairs, we've got a lot to do out there Well ain't we Good's gone bad but right is wrong and I don't know which side I'm on lately
Get up from the down you are in Come out of your homes and let's see your faces Get up out of your easy chairs, get up and show 'em that you're there Get up it's your one salvation Wise up to the situation
Somebody gotta get up and shout Somebody gotta give us some clout You're the ones to make it all work out It all depends on you
Get up off your arses men Don't let 'em think you're getting lazy Get up out of your easy chairs We gotta lot to do out there, well ain't we Get up, Get up, Get up, Get up, Get up, Get up
I seem to recall a discussion of Morrisville and a feeling of safety. I saw this today: MORRISVILLE — The owner of a deli in Morrisville was robbed and assaulted Wednesday.
The robbery occurred at the All-Star Deli on West Bridge Street at 6:15 a.m., when an armed man entered the store, hit the owner on the head with a pistol and stole an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Willya pass me the remote and the chips on your way out to that rebellion thing? You're cutting into my TV time.
Don't disparage the great words of the ever erudite Thomas Jefferson. For in those short passages making up the great Declaration, a new world was born. We hold these truths to be self-evident...
And from, a Modern day bard of great genius, I offer this sad lament on modern society:
When they turn the pages of history When these days have passed long ago Will they read of us with sadness For the seeds that we let grow? We turned our gaze From the castles in the distance Eyes cast down On the path of least resistance
Cities full of hatred, fear and lies Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise Beating down the multitude and Scoffing at the wise
The hypocrites are slandering The sacred Halls of Truth Ancient nobles showering Their bitterness on youth Can't we find the minds that made us strong? Can't we learn to feel what's right And what's wrong? What's wrong?
Can't we raise our eyes and make a start? Can't we find the minds to lead us Closer to the heart?

I said a lot about stuff too! This is what the edumakation process taught me.
-How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?
-Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.
-Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals! Except the weasel.
-When will I learn? The answer to life's problems aren't at the bottom of a bottle, they're on TV!
"The robbery occurred at the All-Star Deli on West Bridge Street at 6:15 a.m., when an armed man entered the store, hit the owner on the head with a pistol and stole an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
Yes, that really makes me feel safe."
I don't get this comment. Because there was a robbery? All communities have these. Did you look at the police logs from other areas as well. Ours doesn't look any different.
"A rebellion in order?
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."
I have to say, this comment kind of ticked me off. I hope I'm reading this quote incorrectly because it is so insulting to our current borough council who are at least trying. There's a robbery in town and local government is to blame?! Let's not blame the criminal. Typical blogging, Morrisville is looking better than it has in years. I see small changes that don't cost much happenening all over the borough and there's a robbery and you suggest kicking everyone off council. WOW. Maybe they will get tired of people not supporting them and leave instead of staying to fight for Morrisville against the Jane Burgers of the town. Just something to think about. Do we really want Morrisville to be handed back over to her crowd, I don't.

To whoever posted this: Congratulations! Yours was the 1000th comment on this blog!
To anon who doesn't get it...The comment referenced a discussion about the boro website and a feeling of safety. Just because other places have crime too doesn't make the Ville any more safe.
I'm also surprised by your being "ticked Off" by the citing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4. What could be more fitting?
You also seem to be running separate posts together. These were 999 and 1000, according to Jon.
Morrisville is no different than any other town in the world, we have crime, yes, but we sure could have more if our police force did not do the great job they do in keeping trouble at bay. I am proud of our police, fire, ambulance squad and our council for trying to make things better and protecting us in many ways. Nothing changes overnight and you cannot make everyone happy but for someone who has spent most of her life here but also has lived in Bensalem, Langhorne, Levittown and Fairless hills, Morrisville is still my first pick to raise my children.
The real leaders in borough council are doing the hard work and doing it well. Its the school board leaders ( if you can call them that) that are not doing the job and helping to devalue our homes and ruin this town.
I know, I know you probably scream and cry That your little world won't let you go But who in your measly little world Are you trying to prove that You're made out of gold and, eh, can't be sold
So, are you experienced? Have you ever been experienced?
Back to School (so to speak). From the video of the 6/29 Board meeting at ...
http://www.mv.org/videos.cfm
At about the 45:15 mark, Yvonne Ruthrauff said something about the Bill (& Melinda) Gates Foundation's Measures for Effective Teaching (MET) Project. She wants Bill Ferrara to have something ready on it for the August board meeting. Here's a link to a website on the project:
http://www.metproject.org/welcome
Mrs. Ruthrauff said they gave districts money to evaluate teacher performance. Bill Hellmann asked whether it could be a revenue source for education. Ruthrauff said and nodded yes.
However, from what I've read, the project is well underway, the pilot sites have already been selected, the classroom observations have already been recorded, etc.
In other words, I haven't seen anything indicating that this could be a future revenue source for Morrisville School District.
I'm hoping someone could supply more information indicating this could be a future revenue source for Morrisville School District. Otherwise, go ahead and talk about it at the August board meeting, but don't portray it as a possible revenue source.
At about the 46:20 mark, Marlys Mihok expresses her appreciation for Ron Stout in his efforts with the Grandview parking lot resurfacing/replacement, and all the time he put into the sketch of said parking lot.
I gotta see that sketch and how fantastic it is.
P.S. It would be even more fantastic if it was done 2 years ago, after MR Reiter blew up and Grandview experienced a big influx of displaced kids.
Riddle me this, with all due respect why is a School Board Member guiding the design of public school construction projects like sidewalks and parking lots? What if something goes wrong with them, is there personal liability for them or do taxpayers have to bail him out?

I don't know the rules for school districts with regards to this matter. I had wondered it a few times as well over the past few years.
The borough is bound to use an engineer for such things. Of course a council person can draw up a sketch of something for everyone to get a very general idea of what's being talked about/proposed etc but its just for the conversation. Ultimately it has to be engineered by a professional, which is why their is a borough engineer. If the project is being done with grant money or a portion of grant money a professional plan has to go to the organization giving the grant. There are times it has to go to the Morrisville planning committee, the county & the state as well. (which is why some projects take a while to accomplish)
It's a bit sketchy, pardon - I had to, that Stout would be planning such things when I doubt he has any real ability to do so. I believe it would be another example of saving a bit of money today but ultimately costing the taxpayers more in the long run.
Thank you for the post above. Reading it made me wonder if Stout was being paid in any way for his "efforts with the Grandview parking lot". I really hope not but I know that anything is possible.
Supposedly its part of Morrisville lore and it supposedly has a benign origin. I don't quite believe it. No matter where it came from I still think its an ignorant and offensive way to refer to that area of town.

Just wondering,
how does wallowing in petty local crime not tarnish the borough's reputation, yet criticizing the school board does?
Anonymous said...Just wondering, how does wallowing in petty local crime not tarnish the borough's reputation, yet criticizing the school board does?
because the criminals that do this stuff to the people of morrisville have no conscience and do not care about the people of morrisville.
oh.
i see your point.
"I will never ever ever be responsible for any law enforcement because I am a police officer."
I recall something else happening there recently, but just can't remember what! Drugs, robbery???
Food stamps for cigarettes or vice versa (aka fraud). I'm sure you can find info in the BCCT.
I believe it was food stamp fraud.
Presumably it's under new management now, and they got robbed.
