The borough manager job in Morrisville is now contracted out.
The majority of council voted Monday to change the position from a borough employee position to contracting it out. Morrisville is making the change after borough manager Tom Bates requested the change for “personal financial reasons,” said officials, who wouldn’t disclose details, citing that it was a personnel matter.
The vote went down 7-1 with Eileen Dreisbach voting against it. She said that although Bates has been doing a good job as manager, the council received the draft of the revised contract Monday at 7:30 p.m. and would have liked more time to review it.
Before a vote was taken, the eight members of council, the mayor, and the solicitor went into executive session, which Bates was part of as well.
Solicitor Sean Kilkenny said the change doesn’t come with any additional payment or compensation or change of salary or hours. The agreement actually takes away a severance agreement from the original manager agreement, Kilkenny added.
Council President Dave Rivella said the change will actually save the borough money. Although, Rivella didn’t know the exact savings figure, Bates estimated that the borough’s saving will be about $2,000 a year.

Dreisbach's allies on the School Board vote for things that weren't even on the agenda. Why isn't she JUST COOPERATING?

At last night's council meeting, there was an exec session to discuss the changing the position. The change is only to make the borough manager job that of an outside contract just like the engineer & solicitor and council can change it back at any time. Its my understanding that both the old and new contracts are the identical. It doesn't require any thought at all, its no big deal. This tells me that one of two things happened. Either Eileen never read the contract in the first place, or she wasn't able to reach Jane Burger in time for her to tell her how to vote.

I know that every Friday, council gets a packet of current info. I know that Rivella makes sure council has at least two weeks to review things such as this before a meeting so that questions can be asked, info read, research done etc. This was a unique situation given what the Rivellas are going through. It should have been a no brainer, the only change is that it saves the borough money without any down side. LOL how can she be against that. Oh yeah, I forgot, she's against just about everything. I noted that Eileen slipped last night and said that Bates was doing a good job as borough manager.

She could never admit it but deep down she is voting against herself as a prepared, effective, responsible councilperson.

"[Dreisbach] would have liked more time to review it [the contract]."

I would have liked more elected officals who weren't withholding payment on their municipal bills.

Make like a Boy Scout and Be Prepared!

Make like a real responsible citizen/elected official and pay your bills!!!

Check with Jane first to make sure it's Okay.

If she can't do that she can make like a tree and leaf office.
