Recently I attended the financial committee meeting of the Morrisville School Board chaired by Damon Miller who is a new board member elected from the Morrisville Matters platform. I was a member of the prior school board that was elected with over 80 percent of the votes to Stop The School in 2007. My fellow board members and I reduced taxes the first two years of our term and did not increase taxes the last two years without any cuts to teachers or programs for our students. Plus, over $6 million in renovations were completed and the school district's test scores increased.
Standing on our record of dedication, my group thought that we would be re-elected to a second term. Our school board president is a CPA with a frugal mind and he spent countless hours reigning in our budget. He, along with our business administrator, stopped the wasteful spending that had become commonplace. The overall budget dropped from almost $22 million to $17 million in our four-year term.
During the campaign my group distributed fliers around town letting voters know that the Morrisville Matters candidates were the same people who were in favor of building that new school for $40 million-plus that was unnecessary and would have bankrupt our town.
The voters did not listen.
I was the only member of the public in attendance as the committee spoke of removing the four modular classrooms installed following a furnace malfunction at our other elementary school. Your new Morrisville Matters school board is planning to borrow $15 million to build onto Grandview Elementary School. Fifteen million dollars for less than 250 students and our enrollment numbers decline every year. In addition to all of this, this tax and spend "Kartel" intend to spend another million to reopen the Manor Park School.
When you open your school tax bill on the first of July 2013 reflecting the first year to pay for this group's unnecessary building project please remember... So sorry, but we told you so.

I was at the same finance panel meeting Marlys mentions in her letter. In fact, that was the second meeting of the panel. Marlys wasn't there for the first one. She didn't stay for all of the second one either.

Anyway, nobody was talking about planning to borrow $15 million to build onto Grandview Elementary School. That is a ridiculous distortion of what was discussed.

Surprised?

Wow! Marlys and her team did all that and they still lost? What's that, Marlys got the lowest vote total out of them all?

Too bad Marlys & Friends aren't able to take the deep dark look into the mirror to figure out why so many people find them objectionable, and not worth the price of the prospect of a few more dollars in their pockets.

Marlys, I got 2 letters for a miserable liar like you.

What is the Difference Between a Sociopath, a Compulsive, a Pathological, a Chronic, and a Habitual Liar?

A Sociopath

A sociopath is typically defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their way and does so with little concern for others. A sociopath is often goal-oriented (i.e., lying is focused - it is done to get one's way). Sociopaths have little regard or respect for the rights and feelings of others. Sociopaths are often charming and charismatic, but they use their talented social skills in manipulative and self-centered ways (see, lovefraud, for more on sociopaths).

Compulsive Liar

A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary. For the most part, compulsive liars are not overly manipulative and cunning (unlike sociopaths), rather they simply lie out of habit - an automatic response which is hard to break and one that takes its toll on a relationship (see, how to cope with a compulsive liar).

The terms Pathological Liar, Habitual Liar and Chronic Liar are often used to refer to a Compulsive Liar

"Be preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, beauty, intelligence, or ideal love"

I think we can safely eliminate success, beauty, intelligence, and ideal love.

Madam Mihok, why did the voters not listen to you? Some of the answers lie above.

Why does a self-involved narcissist have trouble seeing that they themselves are the common denominator of their own failures? It must be that they're lying to themselves about themselves.

What a mess she is.

Truth Hurts, so you are saying the inequitable funding formula that hurts Morrisville taxpayers is a good thing?

So your not interested in protecting the taxpayers of Morrisville, I think that is good to know. BTW, Bristol Boro was in agreement with Morrisville Boro. I guess you hate all the little towns.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. The only thing Morrisville students learned from you was how to break a contract i.e. BCTHS.

Morrisville council and school board working for the better of borough
By GEMA MARIA DUARTE Staff writer | Posted: Wednesday, April 25, 2012 12:00 am

Members of the Morrisville council and school board are starting with a clean slate.

After years of not discussing issues that concerned both governing bodies, the elected officials have reopened a dialogue.

The improved working relationship resulted from a changing of the guard on both bodies after November’s local election, officials said. Morrisville’s school board went through a drastic change, with five incumbents losing. On the council, one of three incumbents lost.

After the council and board were sworn into office in December and January, the Joint Board/Council Committee reorganized as well.

“In my mind, yes, it does have to do with (the new school board members) because, from what I’ve heard from people ... the relationship between the two wasn’t friendly or productive,” new school Director Wanda Kartal said, adding that working with the borough is a priority for her.

The joint committee’s mission is to ensure a safe environment for students walking to and from school, Kartal said. The tiny borough is a walking district.

The committee consists of three members from each governing body. They’ve been meeting once a month since February.

The school board initiated reopening discussions between the two bodies because the new board directors believe it was necessary for the betterment of the community, Kartal said.

The school directors attended the first meeting with a draft list of items to discuss, including enforcement of traffic laws around schools, improving the markings of school zones, reassessing crossing guard deployment and an upcoming “walkability” study.

“We discussed each item, came up with a few areas to start with and planned to meet monthly until the main problems were handled,” Kartal said. “Whatever we do, we want to do it right and involve those handling the day-to-day (operations), including feedback from parents and neighbors. We cannot make everyone happy, but making the safety of the kids a priority and going from there will be the best way to move. We all agree that’s the priority and look forward to working together to accomplish those goals.”

The council members aren’t going in with a full agenda, but they are making themselves and their resources available to assist school board members, freshman Councilman Jeffrey Johnson said this week.

“It’s important to have dialogue for the betterment of the community,” he said. “If we work together, there will be continuity towards a positive direction.”

Because the meetings have been more discussion and discovery sessions, the committee hasn’t made any visible changes yet, Johnson said.

“These things don’t happen at a snap of a finger,” he said.

At this month’s meeting, the committee discussed the possibility of erecting signs that would better identify school zones.

In recent years, Democrats have controlled council, which they continue to do. Votes generally occur along party lines. Republicans dominate the school board, but the new members don’t automatically agree with the other GOP board members.

Attention Voters of Morrisville:

Marlys Mihok thinks you're ignorant!

"I was the only member of the public in attendance as the committee spoke ...".

Not to put too fine of a point on it, but I'm a member of the public too. I'm not on the School Board. I'm on the finance "committee" because, as a member of the public, I followed the procedure and submitted a letter of interest before the deadline. Mrs. Mihok had the opportunity to do so too. Only she can answer why she didn't. Unfortunately, you can't put too much faith in her answers.

That's a lame extrapolation by “This is Me” above.

So if you didn’t support the "Stay on Course" School Board's refusal to pay the Tech School share and rack up legal fees getting tangled in a lawsuit it’s because you "hate the little towns" and don’t want to protect taxpayers? No, that’s not it.

Personally, I simply found that when I dug a little bit under the surface, Hellmann's and Mihok's statements about our Tech School share were false. I didn't like the idea of refusing to pay a contractual obligation under what smelled like false pretence.

That doesn't mean I love the Tech funding formula. It just means I didn't support the actions the School Board took to show its dislike of the funding formula. A sledge hammer shouldn’t be the only tool you’re capable of using. These actions may end up costing Morrisville taxpayers more money. Time will tell - the lawsuit's still unresolved.

Bristol Boro (School District) doesn't like the funding formula either, and has said so. Fine. But I don't recall Bristol refusing to pay and getting into a lawsuit over it. I live in Morrisville, not Bristol, but I don’t recall Bristol School reps throwing around facts and figures in the public realm that didn’t stand up to scrutiny either.

By the way, under the Hellmann-Mihok made-up funding formula, Morrisville would be paying a lot more to Tech this year than the actual funding formula is calling for.

The simple fact is you sent more students to BCTHS than your original allotment and they were educated at a cost that was less than if they staid in your district, and when it came time to pay then you objected. You were trying to claim a delayed cost as a savings and it did not work out.

Posts: 24 Wasn't Mrs. Mihok one of the people who voted to reopen Manor Park herself when she locked out Head Start? She should get her facts straight.

Mrs. Mihok was the person who helped lock out Morrisville support workers years ago, costing Morrisville taxpayers millions. She is also part of the old school board that locked out Head Start from the Manor Park school, leaving Morrisville taxpayers with a bad decision that will cost Morrisville more millions. Stay on Course: We won't cost you hundreds in taxes, but we'll cost you millions in legal fees.

Mrs. Mihok should remember that five of the nine school board members are her own Stay on Course cronies. Is she telling us that she can't control her own puppets? How interesting.

A side note to Mrs. Mihok: She recently took a female board member to task for her use of the words "alumna", "alumnae", and "alumni". Mrs. Kartal, the source of the awful pun above, was the target. Mrs. Mihok should proofread her own prose. "Reigning" is something a monarch does; 'Reining" in a budget is something else. But I bet you meant "reigning" anyway.

I do believe Mihok's "...and would have bankrupt our town" represents improper usage. It should be "...and would have bankrupted our town". Ain't she one helluva miserable wench?

Maybe Marly-poo can sit in on one of the 7th English courses at the high school and improve her writing. She can get the alumnae discount from the bankrupt district.

Has anyone asked Marly-poo to be one of the comedian's at the fire house fundraiser? I'm thinking with her witty sense of humor she will bring the house down!
Just sayin!

Please be kind to this troubled and tortured soul. No matter what she says and how she acts, she is still another one of God's children, just like you and I. Give her the kindness and understanding she is not yet capable of giving herself. Be the light to her that will show her the path to salvation.

THANK GOD! she's off the school board. God really does love Morrisville.

Beautiful words. But hard. Oh so hard. So much easier said than done. Give us strength. Why God, why? No, don't question it, it's in His plan, we cannot fully comprehend it. But why? D'oh!!!!! I will never ever ever be responsible for being the light to a tortured soul's path to salvation because I am a mere mortal who is tired of her malevolent bullcrap. You talk to her, I ain't got no rap with her. She's massively damaging the Stay on Coarse brand, which kinda sucked to begin with. Is that enough to pull her aside and tell her to shove a big-ass cork in it???? Help us dear Jesus, help us!!!!!!!!

Wanting to stand up for yourself is a natural response - and is, in fact, appropriate. Look at Matthew 23, where Jesus stands up for Himself: the Pharisees bullied Him from the beginning of His ministry till the end, but He didn’t always “turn the other cheek.” Scripture shows that Jesus was very honest when dealing with the Pharisees. He regularly called them out on their poor interpretations of religion and bullying of others. In a nutshell, He called their bluff and pointed out that they were doing wrong.

Yes Jesus was the only One without sin. So, He, and only He stands in judgement of all of us. He is our Advocate to God the Father. He goes on talking about the haters, He calls them vipers, equated to gossippers, (the word gossip even sounds like a snake... hissing!) We have a nice Hole for the snake to slide into...anonymously. The bottom line is, the volunteer position is a very difficult one,for all, with the End Times we are facing, not to be a naysayer, but it will not get any better any time soon. Jesus was born to set the stage for the Second Coming, when He will return on a white stallion to capture the beast along with the false prophet and the evil followers(Revelation 19:11-21) Thanx for posting, reminding me to open my Bible, it's good to stay grounded in Truth.

Boy, it's too bad Marlys didn't have all that Bible learning read to her. Maybe one of her buddies can point it out to her while they're serving coffee in the hot tub.
