MORRISVILLE — It was a special night at Williamson Park. A large crowd was on hand for Morrisville's annual Hall of Fame night and to see the Bulldogs tangle with traditional rival Bristol. Both teams seemed excited to be playing under the lights, but it was the Warriors who took center stage, posting an 8-0 win.It was Bristol's 10th victory in 11 decisions (8-0 in the Bicentennial Athletic League).
"They were pumped for tonight," said Bristol coach Mike Lalli. "Any time you play under the lights, it's an exciting night for everyone.
"This happened to be our first night game, and we have a lot of kids who have never played under the lights at the varsity level."
The Warriors got off to a fast start by scoring four runs in the top of the first. Mary Wallick's triple and Morgan Cullen's double were the big hits of the inning, and Priscilla Weimer produced an RBI single.
Hers was the only RBI of the inning; the other three runs scored on wild pitches, although Morrisville (5-2, 3-2 BAL) starter Amber Sesar didn't pitch all that badly.
Once she had a lead to work with Wallick took command in the circle. The sophomore right-hander scattered four hits over a full seven frames. Only one of them left the infield, Maggie Colon's double with one out in the seventh.
Eight Bulldogs went down on strikes, none walked. At one point, Wallick retired 14 batters out of 15, the only baserunner in that span reached on an error.
The Warriors added an additional run in the fifth on RoseMarie Scalzo's RBI single, two more in the fifth without a hit, and one in the sixth on Kaley Crohe's RBI double.
Weimer finished the game with three hits. She said she and her teammates are growing accustomed to their roles.
"Everybody's more confident," the sophomore said. "We have strong hitters now. I think we're a pretty good team."
Until Colon's double the Bulldogs advanced just one runner beyond first base. That was Jenna Souyack, who beat out an infield roller on a bang-bang play to lead off the home first before advancing to second on a ground ball.
Morrisville showed improvement in the field since its loss to Springfield last Friday, but the hosts struggled at the plate.
"We came out and we tried to battle," said Morrisville coach Ivan Colon.
"Amber (who lasted five innings) threw a great game. We had miscues early. The problem is, we've got to hit."
Prior to game time, Sue Henry from the Class of 1976, Cindy Brewer Garritt (1979) Trish Hallam (1981) Sarah Soles (1999) and Jennifer Wallach (2000) were inducted into the Morrisville softball Hall of Fame. All but Henry were in attendance.

Has the Guru of High School Softball ever won a game against Bristol ??????
I have no earthly idea what you're talking about. Be more specific.
Coach Ivan Colon
I don't have the historical stats compiled.
Do you?
I hear its 3 wins 27 loses during his career
Why do they call him the Guru of Softball?
Ivan Colon's catering business is called The Grillin Guru. Another jab at Ivan. He didn't suppport Stay on Crack, you see. Stay on Crack should've fired him when they had dictatorial control of the school board. I guess they didn't get around to it. Who gives a flying F if he actually inspires kids or instills pride, respect, and good sportsmanship in them?Send him to the curb because he supported Morrisville Matters and has a bad lifetime softball record against Bristol. Stay on Crack can EAT. MY. SHORTS.
Mine too and I just soiled them. Heavily!
Wow Anonymous who is attacking Mr. Colon, who crapped on your day? Are you jealous of his following? Or his influence on the masses or scared he just might be a new school board member some day representing diversity? 2013 is right around the corner, anything is possible
Another Softball Loss. Is the Senior Pitcher who has been the starting pitcher the last 2 years hurt???? Or is Colon putting his Freshman daughter ahead of the team by pitching her????
Why don't you come to a school board meeting and speak your mind about it, you coward.
Bring your Bible too.
I am AMAZED at the low standard of some in Morrisville Borough who talk about the children of people they don't care for. Its a special kind of low and in such poor taste. I realize that anything is up for grabs for some when trying to take someone down at any cost but leave everyone's kids out of your bickering.
