Graduating seniors from Bucks County Technical High School wrapped up one stage of their lives during their graduation ceremony Tuesday night before embarking on the next stage of their life stories.
“Each of us has a unique set of skills we’ve learned during the past four years that will help us stand out,” valedictorian Bryan Melilli told 330 fellow graduates during commencement exercises at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton. “This is a new beginning.”

“Wherever you go, go with your whole heart,” said Melilli, who sported four years of perfect attendance in high school and will soon attend Drexel University to major in civil engineering.
Class president and student speaker Stephen Markee challenged his fellow classmates to experience everything and do whatever it takes to accomplish what their hearts desire.
“Life is about creating yourself, not finding yourself,” said the graduate who is headed to Coastal Carolina University. “I think going to a technical high school was the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Before leaving the podium he reminded his fellow graduates that they’ve become his family.
“Looking into this crowd I see the funniest, weirdest, coolest and best group of people I know,” he added.
The tech school's Class of 2012 raked in more than $500,000 in scholarship funds and awards, according to Supervisor of Pupil Services Kevin Gentilcore.
“One of the stereotypes of technical schools is that they are for “hands on” students who struggle academically,” he said. “That certainly isn’t the case with our school. We’re one of only 12 comprehensive technical schools in the state and we take great pride in our high academic standards.”
Tuesday night was the school’s, which teaches students from six school districts, 57th annual graduation.
Leon Poeske, the school’s administrative director, said two graduating seniors couldn’t attend the commencement because they are already on the road to success.
“Brandon Darroch and Dave Hippo are representing our school in a nationwide auto mechanics competition in Michigan,” he said. “This school is truly a place where dreams begin."
