Campaign Materials at Tax Collector's Office - OK or Not OK?

Campaign materials for 1 particular slate of School Board candidates (guess which one?) have been seen available for public consumption inside the home office of Morrisville's elected Tax Collector.  Like right on the table where you go to pay your taxes.

Does anybody know if this is allowed?

It seems inappropriate, at best, since the home office is functioning as a public place where taxes are collected.

I would say that this is very unethical of Pat Pordash. Probably unlawful. I would also say that the same thing occurred in her office during the last election. Some people never change.

I know of one business that makes money off a kids sport program but wants to sell those same kids to the lowest bidder !!!!!!!!
lets just say that business has alot of balls and pins and no it's not morrisville lanes

What's the selling to the lowest bidder about? Supporting a Farm-Out?

I think people need to get their information straight because the establishment that people are talking about do not charge the district for the use of the lane. So they only money they are making is if the kids by snacks from the vending machines or other items they may sell there. (and I have a Blue and Gold sign in my yard)

I agree that people need to get their information straight. I'm a big proponent of that. Many of my posts, and many of my comments at School Board meetings, have dealt with situations where I thought School Board members didn't have their facts straight, weren't telling the whole story, etc.

I don't know what the real answer is about this bowling thing, but this seems like something that should have a straightforward answer.
If it's true they don't charge the district for the lanes, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

That doesn't mean you have to love the SOC signs on their property. Just bowl somewhere else - or try curling.

Thanks for the insight.

I don't know about you, but I am alot more forgiving of people who go off half cocked on a blog than I am of deceptive elected officials..

I don't know about being paid for the school kids to bowl there. But I have know the owner for years and I find it hard to believe he would do anything for free, But maybe he does. but I can tell you when it comes to his view on the school district, he makes SOC look tame.

That sounds very plausible to me. Whatever it is about a place that gives me a vibe of "don't go in there", it's got it.

for sure has the "don't go there" vibe.
but if he really doesn't make a dime off the school bowling there good for him!!! but I have heard his views on the district first hand, so I won't be spending any of my money there

The bowling guy owns alot of rental properties in town and Mihok is a tenant in one of them.
Surprised??

Ok everybody, put all the politics away for tonight and come out and support the PTO. Treat yourself to another great performance by the great Morrisville Jazz Band. It is a great time to meet Morriville's great students, teachers and parents. Enjoy!

Thank you Donna!

wow seems the morrisville's future blog claims it never went way or supported soc and is going to change how you post back to how it was funny thing is I have google account and still couldn't post anything hmmm

Anonymous said...

well of course nobody will go there because they dont want to be sensored or blocked or have selected postings put on what is supposed to be open dialogue. How would anyone post anyway since everyone does it anonymously and they want you to have a google account. I guess everyone has to set up a fake account so they can remain anonymous! too funny I say stay here where you are welcomed with open arms no matter who you support

This is a plea for civility. I understand frustrations, but I think we're all a lot closer to being on the same page than we realize.

I've put a link to the MorrisvillesFuture blog on here for convenience.

I only started running this blog when the MorrisvillesFuture blog seemed to be suspended, because I was concerned that people were losing a valuable outlet for their voices, especially right before an important election. It's on Tuesday, May 17, by the way.

I plan to run this one only until about May 18. After that, it's wait and see.

Running this one has given me newfound respect and admiration for those who ran the Morrisvillesfuture and SavetheMorrisvilleSchool blogs (I put a link to this blog on here too).

Hats off to you, whoever you are!

Can we all agree that the Stay on Course candidates Hellmann, Mihok, Radosti, Worob, & Ruthrauff are not who we would pick as a All-Star Team to represent students and parents and educational excellence?
You may have your differences one or more of the Morrisville Matters candidates, but think about it, really think deeply about it. What compelling reason can you give to vote for Hellmann, Mihok, Radosti, Worob, or Ruthrauff? Have you ever had or heard a conversation with them that didn't leave you shaking your head, or leave your blood pressure soaring?
Taxes taxes taxes! OK, who doesn't get it that money's tight? There's not a dime to waste.
