We've got a cut & paste school board. Without the paste - that's been cut.

Thanks everybody for all your good posts!

Any highlights or lowlights from last nite?

a few things.

Links art contest winner was presented with plaque and $500 check (congrats, sorry, did not catch students name, will post after going back to video). This is a great program and I am proud to say my son Wesley won the Natl contest as well in 09. Sorry had to get that proud mom plug in! lol

Parent, Ms. Hallak, presented info on code 22PAcode 4-23 re: tech education and the # to call if have complaint. see video for full info.

Lighting presentation (act 77) given by contractor etc. Not sure though if this includes the traffic/safetly lighting that was supposed to be included, waiting for clarification from Mr. DeAngelo.

Ann Perry asked about the Kindergarden status last night, forcing a response, otherwise it was not on agenda so the parents/community would have been left hanging another month Thank you Ann for dragging out the info that should have been forthcoming.

Oh by the way, Ms. Mihok wants to know why K. Klausner, T. McCausland, J. Bresnan, P. Neeley, S. Cominski and M. Johnston cannot offer their services out of the kindness of their hearts. Our questions is does Ms. Mihok travel to meetings, stay overnight in hotels and pay for it herself out of the kindness of her heart or does she get reimbursed from the tax payer?

Manor Park school has been vacated for months, not sure why it took that long for someone to ask permission to find a tenant.

Board is considering cutting JV baseball, MS football and Cross country. Mr. Ferrara says there has been declining participation for 2 years now.

Per Mr. Ferrara, NO music/arts programs will be cut.

Mr. Gesauldi, Mr. DeAngelo, Mr. Ferrara and Mr. Harm and maybe Ms. Ruffing (not sure, have to watch video back since it was difficult to hear last night) will be declining any pay raises this coming year. Although we do appreciate this, it is a year too late.

Full video should be posted soon.

“Stay on Track” campaign literature October 2009.

JUST AS THE CURRENT SCHOOL BOARD MAJORITY PROMISED:
Quality Education  all academic and extracurricular programming to be kept intact or expanded to assure highest educational standards for our children and their future.

A. I don't think the Act 77 scope includes the traffic/safety lighting. Seems geared to building lighting, mostly, if not 100%, indoor.

B. Traffic/safety lighting was brought up, what, 1 year ago? How long does it take to get clarification? Well, ...

C. MR Reiter responses took 1 year, and they stunk. See "MR Reiter to Close for Good" thread. Then 1.5 years after the crappy responses (or lack thereof, even though a district news release promised more info that never came), they moved to permanently close Reiter at the 1st board meetings after the May 17 primary election.

D. People can and have 100% dismissed all things like this as just sour grapes whiny potshots, but that in and of itself is a potshot. A lot of these things are fundamental legitimate questions that deserve better attention and answers.

Dear Parent/Guardian:

This afternoon at approximately 1:10, a search of the Morrisville Intermediate/ High School was conducted by Interquest Detection Canines Incorporated. The school was in restrictive movement for the duration of the search. This procedure serves several purposes; the most important is ensuring a safe environment for all members of the Morrisville Intermediate/ High School community. Additionally, this will send a message to any student who might consider bringing harmful substances to the intermediate/ high school. The school administration, faculty, and students will not tolerate this type of activity in their school.

At no time was a student subjected to a search by the use of a dog.

Today’s search was conducted following School Board Policy (#226) with the utmost respect for student privacy. Students, teachers, staff, and parents/guardians have the right to expect to come to a safe place to learn, work, or visit.

Sincerely,

William J. Ferrara Acting Superintendent
