wow jon great meeting, so many people came out in support of Coach Bresnen and the board tabled two of the agenda items relating to coaching in order to have an HR meeting after the agenda meeting to gather additional facts as everyone asked that his resignation be refused and he be reinstated. Many were there about the tech bus issue as well but they were told at the beginning of the meeting that they could not speak on that topic if it was not on the agenda. (that didnt go over well) But they did have two reps from DVHS there to address the issues thus far and explain what has been done to assure these things do not happen going forward. The parents were then told they could meet with DVHS separately at that time in one of the A hallway classrooms. The problems with this is you had to leave the agenda meeting in order to meet with them and most of us did not want to do that but a few did go with them so they spoke on our behalf. Jason was called into the meeting. Of course, everyones hope is that they decide to reinstate!
We hope the full video will be available as it should be on mv.org in a day or two so everyone can see the great community support for the coach. Its really what Morrisville is all about!
Its a very long story and lots that went on tonight, its hard t recap the whole meeting into the blog but basically Coach said and has always maintained that he never said what the New Hope person accused him of and it was taken out of context. Everyone who knows jasons character and his dedication to the kids and the school district for many many years spoke on his behalf. We got the impression that he was basically coerced into resigning to take the attention away from the kids/school but all the while was not admitting or wanting to resign. Everyone was most upset because the school did not stand up for him, support him or defend him in any way and allowed new hope to dictate their decision and actions. it appeared to me by the boards action tonight and comments after all the public speeches that they had not met with Jason up to this point or did an investigation. That was what they agreed to do tonight and this week and agreed to meet with Jason afterwards to discuss everything with him. Seems to me this should have been the first steps the board should have taken when it was brought to their attention rather than it being an after thought and only after the community had to fight for him. Thats about all I can recap at this point, its best to watch the video for full info.
