Nice job by Morrisville First organizers on the Zucchini race today! Car show very nice, hoping for more community participation next year. Happy labor Day! Good luck going back to school tomorrow

What a sorry Mayors picnic it was. Nothing like it use to be. Whoever organized it needs to put a lot more work into it next year.
If it wasn't for the cars there would have been nothing to enjoy.

Did the weather impact attendance?

What a sorry Mayor.

Ok I'm not a big fan of the mayor but don't bash her turn out from the public was poor it's hard to plan anything if the turn out is going to be poor

if you do not have more than a car show with very little advertisement to attract your community and then you separate what you do have from each other so nobody knows there is something else going on or entice them with more activities for their kids to enjoy then atrendance will continue to be poor. Where was the fire company, the ambulance squad, other local businesses? vendors, fun stuff for kids? you have a year to plan and ask people to attend and you have all the years prior to use as an example. shameful picnic no matter who planned it or whose name is on it.

Some past mayors had little to do with the actual planning of the picnic. When Mayor Tom W. hosted these events, it was part of the Arts & Events & a group worked on it together. It was a way for local vendors & local businesses to get together in the park with old time kids games and neighbors breaking bread with each other. It was a community picnic. It was part of the Arts & Events schedule of events.

Rita's picnic has a whole different feel to me. When Rita took this on last year, she was very clear that she did not want anything to do with the Arts & Events group. She went to the local businesses who normally donated to the Arts & Events group and asked for donations - get it. There's only so much to go around. This little event that clearly showcases Rita and not the community, costs about as much as the entire arts & events schedule. "Morrisville First" had part in the planning and flyers were only handed out in the first ward. This year it looked to me as though the Mayor's community picnic has become Rita's first ward event.

The problem with things like this is that like it or not, what happens in public like this represdents the entire town. Sadly, when something is poorly planned like this, all people think is that Morrisville just cannot get it right.

I agree with above.

Love the link - so sad for all of us. I just shook my head when I saw this the first time. The new lights on Bridge Street are not LED. LOL she must not even read her own Friday packets before she takes them over to Jane's house.

Such a poor representative for Morrisville.

Our mayor is easily LED?

If this is the mayor's showcase its cracked. So much for the mayor as the town's civic cheerleader. Take lessons from the mayor's biggest fans. Cancel it. Blame it on poor public attendance when truth be told it died on the vine due to bad planning, marketing and execution.Take credit for the cost savings.
