The Bucks County Intermediate Unit will hold a county-wide Special Education Conference on Tuesday using live video streaming to four sites for over 800 educators. The sites are the IU Conference Center in Doylestown, Strayer Middle School in Quakertown, The Bucks County Technical School in Fairless Hills, and the Bucks Campus of LaSalle University in Newtown Township.
Conference participants will be able to apply practical implementation strategies for moving toward Universal Design for Learning and will be able to identify the most effective inclusive setting for all learners.
Dr. Denise DeCoste will present the keynote presentation, which will focus on what it really takes to implement Universal Design for Learning in schools including the development of professional learning networks.
Participants will also examine the instructional planning process that is necessary to provide all students with the greatest access to the curriculum. These will more clearly define and provide rationale for the accommodations and adaptations that lead to student success, and offer practical and meaningful ways to identify and implement them using a team approach.
