By BILL McFARLAND CORRESPONDENT | 1 comment After suffering through a long season dealing with the agony of defeat, Conwell-Egan High School finally got to enjoy the thrill of victory Saturday night with a 36-6 romp over Morrisville in a non-league football game at Harry S. Truman. "It's been rough," said quarterback Kyle Techtmann, who ran for one touchdown and passed for two others on Saturday. "We played a lot of big schools this season, so it was good to come out and play somebody who was a little more equal to us."
"I'm happy to see the seniors get a win," said Jack Techtmann, the Eagles' head coach. "We played a lot of tough teams this year, so it was good to see the kids get one back. "I know (Morrisville) has had some problems (also). They got banged up this year, but this was a well-needed win for our kids." The Eagles reversed the formula that had cost them in previous games in that they blitzed through the first quarter by scoring three unanswered touchdowns to take a 22-0 lead. Kevin McClease began the scoring by snatching a 10-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Techtmann to finish a 55-yard drive by the Eagles. The Bulldogs' first drive ended when quarterback Eric Wilcox threw a pass that was blocked at the line and then intercepted by CEC defensive back Bobby Simcox at the 28-yard line. Techtmann scored on a 72-yard run on the next play. "I normally ride the fullback (on that play), and I'm supposed to go to the outside, but I saw a huge hole on the inside, so I took it," Techtmann said about that play. Simcox added the third touchdown on a 3-yard run toward the end of the opening frame. Devin Flynn kicked extra points on two of the scores, and Dustin Mascione added a two-point run on the other one. That's the way it stood until the second half, which Conwell-Egan began with an onside kickoff that Techtmann recovered at the 39-yard line. Two plays later, he completed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Mascione, and a Flynn kick opened up the lead to 29-0. Morrisville's opening drive in the second half stalled after Uriel Savage secured a first-and-goal situation at the Eagles' 5-yard line. A penalty and Conwell-Egan's defense pushed the Dawgs back to the 10, and the Eagles began a 90-yard drive that spilled into the final frame. Tim Bolton capped that drive with a 1-yard dive, and Flynn's kick activated the mercy rule as C-E had a 36-0 lead with 10:28 left on the clock. Morrisville's touchdown came on an 8-yard run by Raimey Valdez in the last period. A two-point conversion run failed. In addition to Simcox's interception, defensive highlights for the Eagles included another interception by Mascione and quarterback sacks by Nick Pirri, Joe Larosa and Mike McLaughlin. Joe Sesar had an interception for Morrisville.

Wanda, just to clarify, the current board did mention the Bonfire at the last meeting (10/26). It was mentioned in a way that made it very clear they were AGAINST it.
Below is from my 10/28 post (I was at the 10/26 meeting too, but I just love re-runs):
Anyway, I watched the video of the 10/26 Board mtg. Check it out. 45:00 in, it sounds like Al Radosti tells Mr. Ferrara “Yvonne (Ruthrauff) wants to say something. Let her speak”.
Radosti is Hellmann, Profy, at least 2 empty seats (Worob, Heater), and DeWilde away from Ruthrauff. I didn’t see any notes passing, so unless she communicates telepathically with Radosti, this was pre-scripted.
At 45:40, Ruthrauff then begins to speak against the Bonfire.
If the Bonfire relies on a Board vote, I'm thinking it's toast. Even if no Board vote is involved, what do you think they're telling Mr. Ferrara to do?
Since Day 1 (4 years ago) the SOC School Board has been making Bonfire-type decisions on a whole bunch of issues.
So if you're ticked about the Bonfire, the Asst. Football Coach, the Fence at Grandview, the $150,000 Grandview Parking Lot, the early dismissals in the HS due to excessive heat in an "Air Conditioned" building, the crappy sound and lighting in the Auditorium, the "ask but don't tell" torn down Grandview Basketball Court, the Tech School payment & busing situation, MR Reiter's permanent closure, hiring and firing processes (or lack thereof), Pre-Election District newsletter mailings to select people, PSSA score games, etc. etc. etc., please know that all the junk that went down just in the last 6 months happened like this (and worse) for the 42 months before that.
