Stephen Worob (I) — 583
Republicans

1 seat — 2 years
Democrat Alina C. Marone (Uncontested)

All but one Morrisville school board incumbent lost.
The race for five, four-year board seats wasn't about party affiliation; instead, it was about community groups with a mix of Democrats and Republicans.
Four of the five winners are Morrisville Matters candidates — Democrats Wanda Kartal and Damon Miller and Republicans Ted Parker and David Stoneburner, who ran as Democrats because they won that party's ticket.
"We need to get in and see what's going on," Kartal said after her victory. "Right now, we are outsiders looking in."
Morrisville Matters candidates have been unhappy with the district's administrative setup, as well as funding and the handling of teacher aides. They also believe test scores are lacking significantly. They would like more emphasis on academics, she said.
They won, but their monthly meeting schedules won't change, she said. She and her running mates are expected to attend Wednesday's superintendent's meeting, followed by the board agenda meeting, as they do every month.
The other winner was incumbent Stephen Worob, a Republican who also ran as a Democrat because he won both primaries.
The defeated Stay on Course candidates were mostly Republicans: Bill Hellmann, Al Radosti and Yvonne Ruthrauff. Also on their team was Marlys Mihok, a Democrat who ran as a Republican because she won the Republican primary. Worob also ran under their banner.
The newspaper was unsuccessful in reaching Stay on Course candidates for comment Tuesday night.

I will never, never, ever again be responsible for any child because I am no longer a school board member.

(to be said at some future time)

Much thanks to Wanda, Ted, Damon and Dave for stepping up and caring enough to run! Congratulations on a great win! We now have the balance on the board that was so desperately needed. (not to mention people with honesty, integrity and class to represent our district!) I <3 our NEW school board members - Morrisville Matters!

Well said, Dave R. You are a good example of how those principals have served Morrisville well. Congrats to you on your reelection.

So what happens now? The board, divided philosophically, must continue to govern education in Morrisville. I hope that the remaining SOC board members realize why the MM won and can act with integrity, and that the MM team coming into office can provide the type of real leadership that this board desperately needs. I have faith that things will improve, but I worry that desperate people do desperate things. I only ask that everyone remember the purpose and function of the Board of Education, and that this purpose be the overarching principle that guides the decision making process. Please leave the pettiness, meanness and self-serving actions that have plagued this board for years out of it.

Thank you to those on the front lines who kicked butt this past weekend getting the word out and beyond. There is a huge list of names, we do not want to miss anyone but we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and will thank each of you personally as you deserve more than a facebook or blog post. No campaign is run alone, it truly took a Village and in this case a Borough and we are so proud to have your support and confidence

Our Candidates would like to personally thank our Campaign Manager Ann Perry and her husband Jon for their amazing support and guidance and for believing in us even before we knew we were running and to Gayle Malatestinic Haug, our Treasurer who went above and beyond every day for Morrisville Matters

Ah shucks, thank you!

Great victory, Morrisville Matters, you guys ran a great, energetic, facts-oriented, issues-oriented campaign.

I just blogged a little, helped bag some fliers, voted, and hung out at the Grandview polls for the last hour and 15 mins. or so.

As much as I know I'm disliked by SOC, and I probably won't be able to shake that no matter what I say or do, at best, I really only helped a little.

The hard work of the candidates and the many other volunteers carried the day. Also, I don't discount The SOC School Board systematically and heavy-handedly dissing and ticking off constituency after constituency with their actions, decisions, and words.

You're all reasonable, independent thinkers, and I only ask that you bring that, and more openness and honesty and balance to the Board.

Now the hard work begins. And technically, you're only 4 out of 9 (44.4%). Time to build a bridge or 2.

Congratulations Morrisville Matters candidates. Finally I feel like the children of Morrisville will get the respect they deserve. When I left Morrisville three years ago I felt like the opportunities the students deserve would never happen. I knew the teachers would continue to give it their all no matter what road blocks were put in their way. It's about time that the Board begins to think about the students needs and not just their pocketbooks. I know that is just what you intend to do. Since I left I have continued to read this blog and the previous blog every day hoping that the community would soon realize the need to remove particular people that do not have the best interests of the community at heart. I know you are the right people who will do wonderful things to improve the Borough of Morrisville School District. Congratulations again.

Reba,

Nice to hear from you! Hope you're doing well. And thank you for your support. As you can tell from the blogs, it's been all smooth sailing for the last 4 years ... oh, brother!

For a while there, I thought you might have changed your name to "The Prior Business Manager" (as in "The Prior Business Manager used to do this", or "The Prior Business Manager didn't used to do that", but it's good to know you still go by Reba! ;-)

Please keep stopping by!
