Would anyone care to tackle what happened at these meetings?

Here's some stuff I remember from the Superintendent Advisory:

A Food Service rep (Jim, I didn't catch his last name) spoke about dietary and nutritional guidelines.

Questions were asked about party snack/beverage issues, charging (e.g. 2 cents) for plastic forks, condiments, etc. Jim said this has mostly been a staff, rather than kid, issue.

At the website mynutrikids.com, once you get registered, you can check your child's account and see purchases, balances, etc. You need your child's student ID#, which you can get from Genesis.

Bill Ferrara reviewed 2011 PSSA scores.

Tech School lottery/selection process and issues were discussed. Apparently, it has been a School Board directive for the last several years not to fill vacant slots at the Tech School.

The PTO Fall Fundraiser brought in $11,000, the most ever, and 50% of this will be available for Intermediate School playground equipment.

i thought it was about 42% of the market day which goes to playground per PTO rep that was there.

I heard Dianne Carpenter say 42%, but I thought Melissa Danbury then said 50%, so I went with 50%. Either way, that's $4,620 to $5,500.

Does anyone know about how much the project will cost?

There's a PTO mtg tonight @ 7 pm in the Grandview cafeteria where more info might be available. PTO is always welcome to post here too.

So...Kids who might've got a head start on learning a trade, kids who are motivated, kids who will hopefully be productive members of what passes for society these days, kids who will fix your plumbing, rewire your house, cut your hair, fix your car, guard you while you sleep;) these kids got the Hellmann Shaft? That's a crime. A short sighted, mean spirited, penny wise pound foolish crime.
If true, this practice must stop immediately. We need Tech Schools and their graduates more than ever.
One would hope that the new board members will take up this issue ASAP.

In the past the percentage has been between 42-45% but because we sold so much more this year AND our grocery program is bringing in more money that brings up our percentage of take home!

We are waiting for the final totals to come in from the fall fundraiser to form an official committee. We continue to receive donations and Next Friday for American Education Week the teachers/staff/students will be donating towards the playground equipment fund from a Dress Down day collection.
Anyone who wants to come to the meeting tonight to offer ideas, suggestions, please do so. This is a new venture for the PTO so all ideas are welcomed.

This is ALL the more reason to replace the current Tech School rep. Especially when I hear about kids in Morrisville not getting into the Tech school.

Thank you Dianne.

To the Tech school commenter, this process should definitely be looked into and changed unless there's some really compelling reason not to.

If I find my kids missed on a chance to get into Tech because of this school board, I'll see them all in court.

That may have happened.

You may need a good lawyer.

LOL! They probably got their legal advice from Mikey Fitz.
